Privacy

Applies to all apps from Sandkassa · Last updated 25 October 2026

This is a translation of the Norwegian privacy policy. If the two differ, the Norwegian version applies.

Short version: our apps collect nothing.

What is stored on the iPad

The name and colour you give your child, other settings, and how far your child has got in the app. This is kept in the app's own storage on the iPad, and is not sent to us. You don't need to use your child's real name. A nickname or an initial works just as well.

It is included in the iPad's normal backup, so progress comes with you if you change iPads. Apple stores the backup, under your Apple Account, and we have no access to it. If you delete the app, everything disappears from the iPad.

Purchases

The apps have one one-time purchase that unlocks the rest of the content. It is made by an adult behind the parental gate, and payment goes through the App Store. We receive no information about it. Your child never sees a price or a buy button.

Links in parent mode

Behind the parental gate there are links to things we think are interesting, and to this page, the terms and support. If you tap them, they open in Safari, and the privacy policy of the website you visit applies. We are very careful not to link your child out of the app outside parent mode.

Per app

All our apps follow what is written above. Here is what is specific to each app. Tap an app to read more.

SnirkelUses neither the microphone nor the camera. What your child writes with a finger is not saved.

Snirkel teaches your child to write the letters with a finger. The app uses neither the microphone nor the camera, and only remembers how far each child has got.

Snirkel is in Norwegian, so the names of buttons and menus below are given in Norwegian, with the English meaning in brackets.

The finger and the strokes

  • The strokes your child draws with a finger exist only while your child is on the letter. They are not saved. What the app remembers is that the letter is finished.
  • The strokes are never sent anywhere, and nobody sees them, not even us.

What Snirkel remembers

For each child, Snirkel remembers the name, the colour and the level (colouring, writing, or small and capital letters), how far the child has got on each letter, and which letter the child was on last. The name can be left empty, and your child never sees it. The app also counts how many times your child has started a letter on the same day without finishing it, so the track can get a little wider after a few attempts. The counter resets when the letter is finished.

The app also remembers whether sound and voices are on, and whether the children can switch by themselves. Everything is in one file in the app on the iPad, and is included in the iPad's normal backup.

The voices and sounds are recorded in advance and are already in the app. Nothing is made or fetched while your child is using it.

The films in parent mode

Under “Fagfilmer” (films for teachers and parents) in parent mode there are two links to films about teaching the letters on YouTube. They open in YouTube or Safari, not in the app, and YouTube may show ads before the film.

How to delete

  • Start over for one child: parent mode → “Innstillinger” (settings) → the child → “Begynn på nytt med bokstavene” (start over with the letters). Name, colour and level are kept.
  • Delete a child: parent mode → “Innstillinger” → the child → “Slett” (delete), with the child's name.
  • For all the children: parent mode → “Innstillinger” → “Nullstill appen” (reset the app). The purchase is kept.
  • If you delete the app from the iPad, everything disappears.
PlapreUses the microphone. The recordings of your child stay on the iPad.

Plapre is a silly parrot who mixes up her English, and your child corrects her. On the cassette player, your child says the words out loud. That's why Plapre uses the microphone. The recordings of your child stay on the iPad. We never see them, and nobody else does either.

Plapre is in Norwegian, so the names of buttons and menus below are given in Norwegian, with the English meaning in brackets.

Microphone and recordings

  • The microphone is only used on the cassette player, and only when your child presses the red button. The recording stops by itself after a few seconds. It is never used in the other games, and never in the background.
  • Each recording is one word in your child's voice. It is saved as a sound file in the app on the iPad, so Plapre can say the word back in your child's own voice.
  • The recordings are never sent anywhere. We have no server to send them to.
  • The recordings are not included in the iPad's backup, either in iCloud or on a computer. If you change iPads, they stay on the old one.
  • The app asks for permission to use the microphone during the first-time setup, where the adult answers. If you say no, the rest of the app works as before, and the cassette player isn't on the table. You can change your mind at any time in the iPad's Settings → Plapre.
  • Pronunciation is never assessed. The recordings are not analysed, except that the app on the iPad finds where in the recording the word is, so Plapre doesn't repeat the silence around it.

How to delete the recordings

  • For one child: parent mode → “Innstillinger” (settings) → the child → “Plapre glemmer alt … har lært henne” (Plapre forgets everything … has taught her), with the child's name.
  • If you delete a child in parent mode, the child's recordings are deleted at once.
  • For all the children: parent mode → “Innstillinger” → “Nullstill appen” (reset the app).
  • If you delete the app from the iPad, everything disappears.

What Plapre remembers

For each child, Plapre remembers the name, the colour, what the child is learning (Norwegian words, English words or English sentences), the stickers in the book and which words the child has practised. To show you how it's going, the app also counts the choices in the games per word: how often your child found the word on the first try, and when. This is only shown in parent mode, behind the parental gate. Your child never sees a number.

The voice your child hears in the app, and the pictures, are made in advance and are already in the app. Nothing is made or fetched while your child is using it.

RableUses the camera. The photos of the drawings stay on the iPad.

Rable is a book of drawings your child copies on paper. When the drawing is finished, your child can take a photo of it. That's why Rable uses the camera. The photos your child takes, and everything the app remembers, stay on the iPad. We never see them, and nobody else does either, unless you share them yourself.

The camera and the photos

  • The camera is only used when your child presses the camera button in an open drawing, to take a photo of the paper. Never in the background.
  • The app finds the sheet of paper in the photo and straightens it. This happens on the iPad. The photo is saved as an image file in the app, without location information, and hangs next to the original.
  • The photos are never sent anywhere. The app has no server and makes no network calls.
  • The photos are not included in the iPad's backup, either in iCloud or on a computer. If you change iPads, they stay on the old one. Share them or make a PDF first if you want to keep them.
  • Your child is never the one who allows the camera. The iPad only asks during the first-time setup and in parent mode, where the adult answers. If nobody has said yes, the camera button shows a card asking your child to fetch an adult. You can turn the camera off completely in parent mode, and change your mind in the iPad's Settings → Rable.
  • The photos only leave the iPad when an adult shares them or makes a PDF in parent mode, using the iPad's normal sharing. Then you decide where they go.
  • The app doesn't look at what's in the photo beyond finding the edges of the paper. Nothing says anything about how close the drawing came.

How to delete the photos

  • If you delete a child in parent mode, the child's photos go with it.
  • “Reset the app” in parent mode deletes all the children and all the photos.
  • If you delete the app from the iPad, everything disappears.

What Rable remembers

The children's names and colours, the settings for each child (how detailed the drawings are, which categories, grid help), and which drawings each child has photographed. Everything is in the app on the iPad.

PusleUses neither the camera, the microphone nor the photos on the iPad.

Pusle is jigsaw puzzles with animals. Your child puts the pieces together, and the animal becomes a collector card in an album. The app uses neither the camera, the microphone nor photos from the iPad. What the app remembers stays on the iPad. We never see it, and nobody else does either.

What Pusle remembers

The children's names and colours, which puzzles each child chooses between, which animals each child has puzzled and which collector cards they have earned, whether the sound is on, and whether the purchase has been made. Everything is in the app on the iPad, and is included in the iPad's normal backup.

The purchase and the internet

  • The app has no server. It only goes online to ask the App Store about the purchase and the price.
  • The purchase is offered to the adult during setup the first time the app is opened, and otherwise only behind the parental gate. Your child can't get out of the app.

How to delete

  • Delete a child in parent mode, and the child's album goes with it.
  • “Reset the app” in parent mode deletes all the children and their albums, and the settings go back to the defaults. The purchase is kept.
  • If you delete the app from the iPad, everything disappears.
KlistreUses neither the camera nor the microphone. Pictures of the pages stay on the iPad.

Klistre is a sticker book. Your child puts stickers on a page and can take a picture of the page when it's done. The app makes the picture itself: Klistre uses neither the camera nor the microphone. What the app remembers, and the pictures your child takes, stay on the iPad. We never see them, and nobody else does either, unless you share them yourself.

What Klistre remembers

The children's names and colours, which stickers are where on each page, how worn they are, which books each child sees on the shelf, the pictures of the pages, the settings (switching children, wear, picture before a new sheet, sound), and whether the purchase has been made. Everything is in the app on the iPad, and is included in the iPad's normal backup.

The pictures

  • The camera button on the page draws the page as it looks and saves it as an image file in the app. The iPad's camera is not used, and the picture has no location data.
  • Pictures only leave the iPad when an adult shares one from the album in parent mode, with the iPad's standard sharing. Then you decide where it goes.
  • If you choose "Save Image" when sharing, the iPad asks whether Klistre may add photos to Photos. Klistre can only add. The app can't see your photos.

The purchase and the internet

  • The app has no server. It only goes online to ask the App Store about the purchase and the price.
  • The purchase is offered to the adult during setup the first time the app is opened, and otherwise only behind the parental gate. Your child can't get out of the app.

How to delete

  • Delete a picture: parent mode → the child → the album → the picture → "Delete".
  • Delete a child in parent mode, and the child's pages and pictures go with it.
  • "Reset the app" in parent mode deletes all the children, pages and pictures, and the settings go back to the defaults. The purchase is kept.
  • If you delete the app from the iPad, everything disappears.
DrømsleOn iPad and iPhone. Uses neither the camera nor the microphone. What the app remembers stays on the device.

Drømsle reads stories aloud at bedtime, or shows them as a picture book you read from yourself. The app is for iPad and iPhone. Everything above about the iPad also applies to the iPhone. The app uses neither the camera nor the microphone. What the app remembers stays on the device. We never see it, and nobody else does either.

What Drømsle remembers

The children's names and colours, each child's favourites, which stories each child has heard and where they stopped, and the listening: when a story was played or read, and for how long. The listening is only shown in parent mode, behind the parental gate, and your child sees none of it. The app also remembers the settings, such as bedtime, the sleep timer and the text size.

Everything is in one file, dromsle-bibliotek.json, in the app on the device, and is included in the normal backup. It is not synced between the iPad and the iPhone.

The stories, the voice and the pictures are ready-made in the app. Nothing is created or fetched while your child is using it.

The purchase and the internet

  • The app has no server. It only goes online to ask the App Store about the purchase and the price.
  • The purchase is handled by Apple. We get no information about the person who buys.
  • The purchase is offered to the adult during setup the first time the app is opened, and otherwise only behind the parental gate on the iPad and in the settings on the iPhone. Your child can't get out of the app.

How to delete

  • Delete a child in parent mode, and the child's favourites and listening go with it.
  • “Nullstill Drømsle” (reset) in the settings deletes all the children, their favourites and where they stopped. The stories and the purchase are kept.
  • If you delete the app, everything disappears from the device.

This website

This website counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics. Vercel also hosts the website itself. The counting uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device, so you don't see a cookie banner either.

We only see totals: which pages are read, which page a visit came from, roughly where in the world (country and region), and what kind of device and browser. We can't see who you are, and the counting can't recognise you from one day to the next. We use it to see whether what we write about the apps elsewhere brings people here. The apps still have no tracking.
