The letter K in three numbered strokes, with a cat beside it

For Norwegian families

Snirkel is in Norwegian. It teaches the 29 letters of the Norwegian alphabet, capital and small, including Æ, Ø and Å, with the starting point, direction and strokes children learn at school in Norway. The voices are our own recordings, in Norwegian, and every letter has a Norwegian word and a picture. It suits children who go to school in Norway, or soon will, and Norwegian families abroad who want their children to learn the letters the way they would at school at home. If that isn’t you, it is probably not for you.

How it works

  1. 1

Your child picks a letter from the shelf. Snirkel the snail sits at the starting point, with a small arrow showing the direction.

  2. 2

Your child follows the track with a finger, one stroke at a time, lifting the finger between strokes the way Norwegian schools teach it.

  3. 3

Nothing is wrong. If your child puts a finger in the wrong place, Snirkel looks a little puzzled and grunts. Then your child learns how the letter is written. Slowly, but surely, like a snail.

  4. 4

Three levels, chosen by you for each child: colouring in the letter (around two), writing it five times (four to five), and small and capital letters together (five to six).
